James Liska is the Director of Programs at The Washington Campus, where he is responsible for managing a variety of functional areas to ensure TWC’s programs run smoothly.

Prior to joining The Washington Campus, James spent over three years at WashU at Brookings, a collaboration between The Brookings Institution and Washington University in St. Louis Olin Business School. He was responsible for the planning, execution, and moderation of public policy education courses on topics such as Congress, the judiciary, the legislative and regulatory process, and US national security priorities. Additionally, he supported the Brookings LEGIS Congressional Fellowship program.

Other experience include seven years The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, where he developed and led an experiential education program to teach undergraduate students about Congress. In that time, he arranged and led over 1000 personalized “mini fly-in days” on Capitol Hill with Members of Congress and legislative staff. He’s also contributed his expertise to a boutique advocacy training firm, a Congressional market research organization, and did a stint on Capitol Hill with his hometown Member of Congress.

James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and holds certificates from the European Academy of Diplomacy (Warsaw, Poland) and the Association of Government Relations Professionals (Washington, DC).
